STAR Group impresses the CEN/CENELEC/TC 301 (Road vehicles) Technical Committee with a terminology workflow solution for implementing DIN EN ISO 18542. The overall goal of the standard is to make it easier for authorized third parties (e.g. independent workshops, testing institutes, etc.) to search for repair and maintenance information (RMI) from the vehicle manufacturer. The mandate includes creating and maintaining a stock of search-relevant terms in the form of a digital annex. This results in standardized, manufacturer-independent reference terminology.
For the creation and maintenance processes, the STAR Group is implementing a central terminology management solution with a web-based workflow based on WebTerm 7 (Web-based terminology) and STAR CLM (Corporate Language Management). In close cooperation with an expert group made up of representatives of car manufacturers and authorized third parties, the STAR Group is taking responsibility for providing the initial stock of data for publication in the relevant languages.
The project is being carried out under the leadership of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). As a cooperation partner, DIN Software GmbH is assuming responsibility for setting up the registration point, and for publishing and distributing the terminology database.
